Kurt Salmon Associates’ Private Equity and Strategy Practice is looking for talented senior consultants to join our growing team.
Our San Francisco–based team provides strategic, data-driven consulting services to leading private equity funds and corporate clients in the consumer products and retail industry. For private equity clients, our services span the investment lifecycle, including strategic due diligence, strategy development and operational improvement during the portfolio ownership period and exit optimization as the investment nears its end. We have worked for seven of the top 10 private equity funds in the country and have participated in many of the recent M&A deals in the retail, consumer products and foodservice industries. We also work with leading retailers and consumer products manufacturers on a wide range of strategic issues, including growth opportunities, store productivity, marketing efficacy and competitive response. Position Overview
Successful senior consultants demonstrate exceptional analytical, interpersonal and creative-thinking skills. They receive both formal and on-the-job training and ramp up quickly as integral members of the Private Equity Consulting & Strategy team.
A senior consultant’s primary activities typically include:
- Review company information and formulate hypotheses about the attractiveness of growth and investment opportunities
- Build robust financial and market models
- Perform research to gather input for key assumptions
- Design and execute analyses to test hypotheses
- Design and execute primary research, including interviews with industry experts and qualitative and quantitative consumer research
- Synthesize research and analysis across multiple work streams to develop key insights
- Develop and deliver presentations to communicate findings to clients
- Mentor junior staff members
- Develop and enhance client relationships
- Support practice-building activities such as service product development, recruiting, marketing and staff development
Candidate Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- Three to six years of relevant work experience (consulting, investment banking, internal strategy in retail/CPG, private equity; senior consultant experience at other top consulting firms is a plus)
- MBA/graduate degree from a top-tier program preferred
- Highly structured, hypothesis-driven thought process
- Extensive experience in developing and executing rigorous quantitative analyses and working with large data sets
- Experience with a variety of consumer and secondary research tools
- Knowledge of the retail and consumer products industry strongly preferred
- Ability to work efficiently and keep focused on key issues (80/20 mindset)
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, preference for strong Access/SQL skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and interest in Kurt Salmon and our practice
- Candidates must be able to work in the United States without any legal work restrictions
Location and Travel
This position is open in our San Francisco office. Travel is typically limited (~10%) but can be more extensive depending on the specific engagement and client needs.
