Position Overview

The IT practice works with its clients nationally to identify their current and future information technology needs and then facilitates the planning and selection processes to achieve lasting results. The Health Care IT Manager will work on multi-dimensional projects that demand functional knowledge and strong analytical, creative problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Representative projects include but are not limited to development of an IT strategic plan, facilitation of a vendor selection process for a particular application suite development of a business intelligence/data warehouse strategy, readiness assessment for advanced clinical automation, and IT planning for new facilities.

The IT Manager performs the following job responsibilities:

  • Lead project teams of Kurt Salmon and client leadership through the execution of work plans by providing direction, timeline and budget management, facilitating data gathering and problem solving processes, and performing extensive analyses of vendor marketplace, patient, business process, and other data and by facilitating problem solving sessions.
  • Collaborate with diverse client and Kurt Salmon staff to develop and present findings and recommendations.
  • Coach and mentor Kurt Salmon consulting staff. Write and deliver performance reviews. Assist with recruiting.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients. Assist with development and delivery of proposals and project presentations.
  • Develop and share subject matter expertise regarding relevant industry segments including, but not limited to, the planning and design of IT systems, vendor selection, project management, and other specialty areas.
  • Actively contribute to the ongoing development of the IT practice methodologies and knowledgebase, and act as a resource to other consultants in areas of specific knowledge and expertise.

As the IT Manager’s career progresses, he or she will assume a larger role in the management of projects, guiding larger teams and the client's staff in developing solutions and approaches to complicated issues.

Candidate Qualifications
  • MHA, MBA or other related advanced degree required.
  • 7–10 years of experience in a health care setting or other related environment. Prior IT planning consulting experience in health care setting highly preferred.
  • Direct experience with healthcare technology marketplace and product/vendor-specific knowledge is required.
  • Distinctive academic performance and leadership experience.
  • Energetic and passionate about serving clients, continual learning, professionalism and personal resilience.
  • Keen problem-solving skills and demonstrated quantitative analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive proficiency with spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Ability to work in the United States with unlimited work authorization.
Location and Travel

Consultants are assigned to our Atlanta office. Travel to client sites averages 60 percent of business days.
